WELCOME
TO THE ART SITE OF LAUREL MOORE أهلا ومرحبا بكم مني
فن الموقع Laurel
Moore is a commission artist who has been living in Abu Dhabi, UAE for 1 year . She specializes in traditional and contemporary paintings
using oil on canvas. If you are looking for a beautiful portrait painting of your husband, wife, child or pet, or
a creative modern painting- Laurel's paintings would perfectly suit your needs.
Laurel likes to take time to photograph the person/pet in a relaxed setting, and
talk about what kind of portrait is desired. Colours, size and where you would like to hang your painting, all play
an part in the finished artwork. For example, if your wife is a keen gardener, elements of her garden can be brought into
the background of the portrait. It's really all about YOUR choice. And what a beautiful gift that would make!
Using oil on canvas takes time to dry, and can take
up to 3 months due to the drying time. But, of course, all good things are worth the wait :)........... Please contact
Laurel directly at questions@moorethanart.com to discuss your ideas and budget. Currently Laurel is focusing her art on United
Arab Emirates and not shipping to intenational destinations. Most paintings are wrapped and delivered to you by hand by the
artist, or they can be delivered via courier.
Laurel is currently working on the illustrations
for a children's book. She has also been asked to create some animation characters for 'Maya International'
the famous animation/software company. Since the adoption of her two rescue dogs (December 2009) from
Strays Of Abu Dhabi she has become very involved in helping to raise funds for this great non-profit charity run by local
volunteers. This group straysofabudhabi.com care and rehome animals found on the streets of Abu Dhabi. They also go into schools
and educate youngsters about the work they do. See GULF NEWS newspaper article, search under 'Laurel Moore' http://gulfnews.com/news/gulf/uae/general/animal-rights-advocates-plan-to-build-sanctuary-1.558035 Laurel is currently organizing the exhibition of 51 International exhibiting and emerging

ABOUT
THE ARTIST
Laurel Moore is a Certified Listed British Artist. She obtained her Teaching
Degree at the University of Portsmouth, England, with a specialism in 'The Arts' and 'Art History' in 1988.
Laurel Moore is married and lives with her
husband in Abu Dhabi, UAE. She comes from a family of artists. Her uncle John Cooke was one of the original artist model makers
on the British series "Thunderbirds" in the 1960's, which still has a cult-following today. He then continued
his illustrious career as an artist for the British Natural History Museum, in London. Her other uncle works as a composer
in Vancouver, Canada, and her cousin is a successful ceramics artist. As a child, Laurel sang with a choir at the
Albert Hall in London and learnt to play the piano, accordion, and later alto and tenor saxophone. Whilst studying for her
teaching degree in the 1980's her art lecture commented that " he didn't know what to do with someone with
so much talent". Whilst busking (singing blues and playing tenor saxophone) she was talent-scouted by the manager of
the Holiday Inn hotel chain to play a regular gig with her blues band.
'Settling down and having
a family allowed me to concentrate on my art. My initial move from England to Switzerland in 2000, with
its stunning mountains and valleys, was a great inspiration to my artistic soul. It allowed me to explore and paint
new and exciting landscapes/cityscapes.
'My aim as an artist, is to breathe life into a scene or a portrait, so that it
has a real 'presence', or 'life of its own' in the room - which draws people in.' 'My family, painting, singing, saxing, song-writing - my inner life - all fills my life
with joy. And everyday I try to be the best that I can be'. 'Each
painting is for me a huge challenge to try and find that 'magic wand' in my paint-brush - that's makes
me feel like I have brought something to life on the canvas. If, indeed, I am doing a dog portrait - I hope one day to
hear it bark :)' ...........Laurel Moore.
